Research
Research is an important tool to inform practice. With a full time Research Lead, we conduct research that provides an insight into Global Citizenship Education (GCE) in ITE, in particular we gather and analyse data to demonstrate the impact of Ubuntu supported partnerships and projects. We also provide a research hub for members, pointing to current research on GCE and mentoring them where appropriate to conduct practice-based research, and support dissemination of outputs to relevant target audiences.
Featured Research Project
Conceptualisations of Global Citizenship Education (GCE) in Initial Teacher Education (ITE)
Project Lead: Dr Joanne O’Flaherty
Project Advisory Board: Dr Stephen O’Brien, Dr Maria Campbell, Dr Melanie Ní Dhuinn, Ms Valerie Lewis, Prof Gary Grandville
Organisation: Ubuntu Network
The area of global citizenship education (GCE) has an established history in Irish education and more specifically initial teacher education (ITE) with a focus on development education, education for sustainable development, global education, civics, global and democratic citizenship. GCE has come into sharper focus for teacher education providers following the introduction of ‘Céim: Standards for Initial Teacher Education’ which identifies GCE as one of seven core elements that must underpin all aspects of ITE programmes (Teaching Council, 2020). This project seeks to build an understanding of the conceptualisations of GCE reflected in post-primary initial teacher education programmes nationally, with a view to informing the professional development needs of teacher educators and pre-service teachers charged with implementation of GCE in their respective programmes/classrooms. Through the above article, we can recommend you the latest dresses.in a variety of lengths, colors and styles for every occasion from your favorite brands.
