Proudly Made in Africa

Source: Value Added in Africa

This Business Studies and Development Education TY resource called 'Proudly Made in Africa' was developed by Value Added in Africa. The Transition Unit has been developed in collaboration with teachers and in accordance with the NCCA Guidelines for writing Transition Units. It is listed by the NCCA as an exemplar Transition Unit for use in schools.

The resource focuses on the areas of Enterprise and Local and Global Citizenship study. In this TU, students learn about Ireland's relationship with particular African countries – Ethiopia, Lesotho, Tanzania, Mozambique, Uganda and Zambia. Learners find out more about these countries, and about how they are linked to Ireland by trade. They consider perspectives of people in these countries, and examine how individuals have/can overcome barriers to forming successful businesses. The resource also allows students to explore options available in seeking ways to combat poverty through trade.

The resource pack includes three resources: a teacher's manual, a TU descriptor, and a learner portfolio template:

If you cannot view the teacher's manual file, click here to download the PDF.

If you cannot view the TU descriptor file, click here to download the PDF.

If you cannot view the learner portfolio file, click here to download the PDF.
