Dialogue Day 9: Curriculum, Policy and Advocacy - The increasing need for Development Education
26th May 2017
Arguably there has never been a greater need for Development Education. As global citizens we have been catapulted into a world of uncertainty with the ‘Brexit’ result and the rise of Donald Trump. Political narratives that are fuelled by inward thinking, racial resentment, and general intolerance, are heightened by a smoke screen of ‘fake news’ and ‘alternative facts’. With human rights cast aside and progress on climate change dealt a significant blow, the massive social divisions generated by these campaigns are palpable. The global has never felt more local. As educators, how do we make space to address this issues in teacher education?
