The Change Lab: What does it mean to teach and make art that is of and for our time?

The School of Education in the National College of Art and Design, Dublin (NCAD) in association with the Ubuntu Network wish to invite you to the exhibition & event that responds to the question, What does it mean to teach and make art that is of and for our time? The Change Lab is a critical space for learning, thinking and re-imagining the possibilities of how art and design curriculum in second level can be taught through a development education lens. The exhibition showcases the pedagogical approach and artefacts that the Professional Master in Education teachers created in response to the thematic of LAND and HOME. The work is made and presented from the situated practice of the artist and the educator, activist. The NCAD Gallery is delighted to host, The Change Lab exhibition & presentations event. The exhibition is open at the NCAD Gallery from the 2nd - 5th May.

The Change Lab Presentations Programme which takes place on Wednesday 3 May 2017 is as follows.

  • 11.00am Introduction, Professor Dervil Jordan.
  • Setting the context, Deirdre Hogan, Ubuntu Network, Fiona King & Tony Murphy, NCAD.

  • 11:30am Keynotes: Professor Gary Granville (formerly NCAD) & Dara McGrath (artist).
  • 12:15pm Discussion and presentation of artwork in gallary space
  • 1:00pm The Change Lab Exhibition official opening
  • 1:15pm Meet and Greet with refreshments served
